Data can be lost due to physical damage to the storage device or logical damage to the file system that prevents it from being accessible by the host operating system.
The causes behind data loss may vary, and may include human error, natural disaster, accidental file deletion, software and hardware malfunctioning and viruses, along with many other factors which may result in loss of business or priceless personal data such as family photos and videos.
At Mount Vernon Data Recovery, If your hard drive is not physically damaged (i.e. it "spins up" and stays on without clicking) we are able to recover your data 90% of the time.
Below are some errors you may see. "Drive letter is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect." is a logical error which we can usually recover data from. Windows showing your drive as 0 bytes in used space and 0 bytes in free space while displaying the "RAW" file format is another logical error in which data recovery is usually possible.
Please note that your drive letter (e.g. E:, D:, F:) doesn’t matter.
Sometimes Windows may say that your drive needs to be formatted (thus erasing all of your data) before you can use it. No worries -- we can usually recover from hard drives in such situations.
